Bangkok Part 1

Bestie & I have been thinking of going on a trip together (just us) for a while now and we made it happened recently! We decided to go to Bangkok together since we both like shopping, eating and erm its highly affordable...(since we are both currently unemployed )!

We flew with Thai Airways in the evening and decided to put up at Centara Watergate Pavilion Hotel.

The journey from Suvarnabhumi Airport to the hotel was about 30mins and we paid 250 Baht.
Arrived at the hotel's entrance which is actually a drop-off/ pick-up point, we had to make a right turn after the steps to the lift lobby, head up to 9th floor (where the main hotel lobby is) to check in.

Lucky us! We got upgraded to the Deluxe Room which cost around S$170/ night. As expected, we entered the white themed room.

Our room had a really fancy cylindrical shower area which was quite interesting!

I think the price per night is pretty decent. Located at Pathumwan area, we could walk to Platinum Mall in 5 mins, Central World in 7mins and it wasn't too far away to the places we wanted to visit. Staffs were extremely friendly & service was great. However, we realised that most taxi drivers didn't really recognise the hotel, we had to google map for them most of the time. The hotel also didn't have a proper entrance, you'll arrive at the drop-off/ pick-up point and will have to take a lift to the lobby at the 9th floor to actually feel like you entered a hotel. And technically it is situated behind a mall (a boring one), so we had to either cut through the boring mall (for the air-conditioner) or walk in via a small road (nearer but not sheltered) if we decide to get back by foot. We weren't provided with toothpaste/ toothbrush (both of us forgot to bring toothpaste!) and bedroom slippers. Although we got them after making a call to the front desk but these are items that I think a 4-Star hotel should provide for their guests no? However, one thing that we noticed was that the staffs/ guards at the pick-up/ drop-off point took down every vehicle number that picked or alighted their guests - felt quite safe since they have these records.

Value for Money:
Location:
Cleanliness:
Comfort:
Service:

Somehow I feel that it's more like a 3 Star hotel than a 4 Star one. Overall stay was quite pleasant but will probably try other hotels on my next visit to Bangkok!

We started early the next day to visit Chatuchak Market!
(This is the drop-off/ pick-up area I was talking about.)

Took a cab to our little shopping paradise! Super excited! Btw I drew Bestie's brows cos I can't stand how she does it. And you'll probably start noticing her brows from now on. Hahaha.

Randomly popped into a food store to fuel up before the shopping starts!

AHHH, STREET SNACKS! I looove these Quail Eggs, we had to have another serving cos one is just not enough!

And I had the best Fried Chicken Wings, it was sooo good and I love how they cut the wings leaving only a bone. How easy to eat please!

Roamed around the market and unknowingly ended up in the furniture & deco section. So pretty! I really like the mini marble fountain (bottom left corner) and the cushion covers! Got the velvety royal blue ones for home! Should totally make a trip here to shop for our new home!

And we continued roaming and we ended up in the doggy area...or to be more specific...the Giant Alaskan Malamute area. I swear it was the size of a pony...no joke. They were huge!

After the doggy section, we ended up in an "all-animal" section which really had EVERYTHING , not a good news since I am terrified of birds (those baby ones really made it all worst seriously), reptiles, amphibians, some fishes, etc. I remember holding on to Bestie's arm, looking far & straight, trying extremely hard to ignore the birds/ chickens and everything else around us. It was terrifying and we had to evacuate from that section immediately.

And shopping continues while heading towards my favourite Coconut Ice-Cream store that a friend introduced to us 2 years ago! I'm back for you! So for every Ice-Cream purchased, it includes a cup of Coconut juice (see the lady holding it), it's ice cold...just what we needed under the most unforgiving weather.

I like my Coconut Ice-Cream with red bean & jelly!

Super hot but shopping makes us really happy as you can tell. Haha!

Would love to stay in Chatuchak longer but for the sake of our wallets & True Love Cafe...we left!

And here we are at True Love Cafe. A Siberian Husky Cafe! Since Bestie is a fan and she's an owner to one, it was her only request for this trip. I was excited to see a whole pack of huskies too! The cafe has a schedule for the interaction with the huskies, so be sure to check before visiting. We arrived at the cafe at around 2pm to get the tickets, chill over a drink (and of cos get some air-con) and prepare for the interaction at around 3.30pm. The entrance fee cost 350 Baht (inclusive of a drink and a slice of cake).

Huskies galore (there were 2 Collies & a Shih Tzu too haha)! And if you are wondering if blue plastic bag shoes are in trend now...its not, we had to wear them for hygiene purposes. We were highly surprised that the area was extremely clean, no dog smell at all (although I'm quite a fan ). Pee & poo were cleaned almost immediately. And the dogs were superbly maintained!

My favourite one from the pack! How do you even resist such a happy face?

As you can tell, Bestie was super at selfies with the Huskies...Jealous much!

I decided to photobomb instead of trying!

A forced photo. The friendly staff decided to lend me a helping hand but...it didn't last too long...

The second the staff went away, my photo was ruined. But never mind, just continue to hug and pose .

Realised my talent was not taking selfies with the Huskies...but was to give them a head massage/ scratch! They enjoyed it so much, they even closed their eyes ok! See to believe!

#HiddenTalent #MagicHands
HAHAHAHAHA

And last but not least, its feeding time for the dogs!

The interaction ended and it was close to 5pm...unknowingly we spent a couple of hours there. Definitely a must-go if you love Huskies and have a couple of hours to spare! We took a taxi in (with the help from the staff who directed our driver on the line) and you could also get them to arrange a Tuk Tuk for you to get out to the main road.

Find them on Facebook!

Went to Central Chidlom to buy undergarments.  It's like a heaven there la, plenty of brands to pick from and awesome discounts. S$160 got me 4 sets. And they carry my favourite brand - Morgan! So ladies take note!

Greyhound Cafe for dinner (also located at Central Chidlom)! Love this restaurant, love the ambience and the food. I dined at their main branch at Emporium and fell in love with it...and I also visited their branch in Hong Kong at IFC mall couple of years back! They serve Thai & other cuisines. Bestie also had a beer infused with lemon grass which tasted really good, super refreshing! And and the brand actually started with a clothing line before branching out to F&B. You can find their menswear line at Tangs in Singapore.

Things that we avoid doing in Singapore. But overseas don't care.

And YES to Chicken Wings!!!

Totally sloshed, and called it a night! The next day was gonna be interesting, I had to wake up at 5.45am. Read on!
